According to Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, the party constitution must be changed in order to remove Iyocha Ayu as national chairman.
Atiku made this clarification in response to criticism from the Southwest leadership, and participants in the interactive session with Atiku unanimously agreed that Ayu’s resignation or removal from office is the only way to bring about lasting peace and control within the party in the interests of harmony, justice, and fair play.
Engineer Seyi Makinde remarked that the PDP must first reorganize itself before it can restructure Nigeria in his remarks on behalf of the Southwest PDP leadership.

He mentioned that Ayu’s resignation is one of the requirements for restructuring the party.
Makinde continued by pointing out that both Atiku, the presidential contender, and Ayu are natives of the north.
He pointed out that selecting a national chairman from the South would help balance the equation because the presidential candidate is from the North.
“We have to be honest. The truth is that neither the party nor the candidate are a problem for us.
“There isn’t a problem with PDP. The individual is not the focus of this. These are the problems that are resolved; they have occurred.
“The problem is that if we want unity in Nigeria, we must reorganize Nigeria. But before restructuring Nigeria, we must first reorganize the PDP.
“Yes, we have the capacity to restructure Nigeria if we so choose.
However, the South West PDP is requesting that the PDP chairman step down. The South-West PDP is requesting that the Chairman resign.
Atiku Abubakar, the party presidential candidate, responded to this by saying that in order to accomplish this, the party constitution must be examined and, if required, altered to satisfy the demand. According to independent report.
