How Seyi Makinde Paid LAUTECH N200 Million to Pull Out of ASUU Strike

Oyo State Acting Governor, Barrister Adebayo Lawal has described the sympathy strike embarked upon by the staff of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, in solidarity with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), as ‘unnecessary’.

Lawal who called for the immediate resumption of full school activity, has revealed that the state government has fulfilled its recent agreement with LAUTECH to call off the strike, even after paying a huge sum of N200 million naira to the institution as a condition to call off the strike.

He pointed out that the government is not in any way indebted to the school management as it has shown commitment in fulfilling obligation to discontinue strike henceforth.

The acting governor stated this today as a sideline while delivering keynote address at a stakeholders consultative meeting on 2023 budget.

Lawal therefore tasked people to be concerned more about societal progress and development rather than clogging the wheel of progress.
